Today’s book review is about my most favorite book ever: “The Wall of Winnipeg and me” by Mariana Zapata. I read it for the first time a few years ago (release date was Feb 28th, 2016). I honestly don’t remember how I came across the book or who gave me the recommendation. Anyway, since reading this book I’ve been an absolute fan of Mariana Zapata and I’ve read all her books. She is called the “Queen of Slowburn” which means she knows how to build up tension like no other. Very slowly.
“The Wall of Winnipeg and Me” is a sports romance novel featuring football star Aiden Graves and his assistant Vanessa Mazur. Let me give you the blurb (Link to Goodreads):
Vanessa Mazur knows she’s doing the right thing. She shouldn’t feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.
But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she’s beyond shocked.
For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn’t find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He’s asking for the unthinkable.
What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?
Well, what can I say? I would give this book an infinte amount of stars, I love it sooooo much! Such a great book! Very entertaining, sweet and charming characters (Vanessa and Aiden) and simply beautifully written. I’m a big fan of sports romance and like stories with athletes – whether football, wrestling, baseball, soccer, I don’t really care. That’s why it wasn’t particularly difficult for me to dive right into the book. A classic case of “I don’t put the book down until I’ve finished.”
I can really, really recommend this book to you. If you’re are romance reader, you won’t regret it!
Bye the way, Aidan and Vanessa have a cameo appearance in Mariana’s latest book “Hands down“.
